TheFototeca Regionale has photographic reproductions of the corpus of votive panels held by the Museo Civico di Belluno. The photographs were taken between 1976 and 1978 by photographer De Santi.
There are over 100 paintings, the vast majority originally from the small church of Sant'Andrea in Belluno, demolished following serious damage in an earthquake of 1873. The votive panels are rare evidence of local popular art from the 15th to the 19th century. Although mostly unknown, the artists also include Bellunese painters such as Giovanni da Mel, Antono Gabrieli, Giuseppe Zais and Girolamo Moech.
The panels depict apparitions and exceptional events, such as the disabled or very sick children being healed, and tragic or adventurous incidents, such as great falls, robberies and shipwrecks, in which the people involved miraculously survive unscathed. In most of the panels, St Andrew, the patron saint of the church, appears alongside the Virgin.
